One of our amazing backers pointed out that there was a typo in that last update. The event at The Castle is April 23rd, 7pm-10pm. Sorry for any confusion.

Magnetic Boxes!!!
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 21, 2019 at 05:05:00 AM

Guys! Magnetic boxes! I am so excited!

You are all amazing, each and every one of you. You have clearly spread the word in your daily, llama-centric conversations, and as a reward we are all going to get that satisfying snap of magnets to cap off our llama fights!

We have one more stretch goal left to unlock. If we get to $20,000 then the first player token will be a metal coin; all shiny and full of authority. I can just imagine the heft of it in my fingers as my slower opponents anticipate the first strike.

FUNDED!!!
about 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 18, 2019 at 04:25:13 AM

It is a cliche for someone at an awards show to be all like, “I wasn’t prepared for this.” Well, we really, honestly, truly didn’t believe we would need to have a post about being funded in less than a day!

Thank you so much for your early support! Valhallamas is going to be a real thing!

This is being cobbled together from our PAX East booth as we prepare for the last day. If you are around, feel free to come by 10096 for a demo and a button.

We’ll be back with more... after naps.

THANK YOU!!!

The good times keep rolling
about 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 08, 2019 at 03:36:00 PM

About a week ago we were feeling a lot of things: shock (this campaign reached its needed funding in less than a day), elation (this game was going to get made) and exhaustion (it was the beginning of day 4 at PAX East). It was a crazy day for us, one of the best days for Fidget Creative to date, and yet as I update the image showing we have cleared our third stretch goal I find myself feeling... well, I am not sure I have the right word. Something like disbelief, awe, gratitude and joy all rolled in to one.

In clearing the card quality stretch goal we also reveal another one down the line. If we reach $17,000, the game box will have magnets! There is something really satisfying about magnetic boxes; maybe it appeals to the scientist in me. It is also the beginning of what I would call the pipe-dream phase of the stretch goals, and we revealed it with 21 days remaining. Just another part of that feeling I can't quite describe.

With that in mind, I would like to ask something of you, our amazing supporters. Would you mind telling someone about Valhallamas? It could be on social media or in a casual conversation you have (I assume everyone talks about vikings, llamas, and boardgames daily, so it should be easy to fit in). This game is already going to have amazing art, Magnus, more equipment options, and high quality cards. Now stretch goals I thought of as pipe-dreams seem almost attainable. Spreading the word now might help put us on track to adding some of the bigger upgrades to this game.

Thank you all for your support!

Two Stretch Goals Down
about 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 04, 2019 at 03:44:59 PM

Ok, we have taken naps. And while we were out you pushed us past two stretch goals!!

The Road Map

Since we have been funded, we have reached out to our artist, Devon George, to officially lock down the timeline for the remaining art. Everything looks to be on schedule and we can’t wait to share new art as it rolls in.

Such as…

Additional Cards

Because you all are so great, we are adding extra cards to the box!

Our 7th llama will be added as a selection for the fight. But he has a bit of a secret. Magnus is actually an alpaca pretending to be a llama. He has a chip on his shoulder and he is looking to put those elitist llamas in their place.

We are also finalizing our debates on the extra battle gear getting thrown in the box. We hope you find them as fun and entertaining as the original cards.

Thoughts from PAX

First of all, thank you to everyone who came by our booth at PAX to try out Valhallamas. The response we got was just terrific.

We playtested the heck out of this game before Kickstarter, but there is nothing like 4 days of showing people your game over and over and over and over. We got a ton of feedback and we will likely make a few tweaks based upon it. We had never even considered making Magnus an alpaca until PAX.

That is all we have for now. We’ll be back with more soon.
